Client Intake Team Member

The Client Intake Team Member is the frontline contact with the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton’s clients. The Client Intake Team Member speaks with clients, determines their eligibility for services based on predetermined eligibility criteria, maintains confidentiality, and acts professionally at all times according to the mandate, mission, values, and code of ethics of the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton ensuring clients are treated with respect and dignity.

Who Should Apply? Candidates who can demonstrate their interest in:

  • Work-related experience in a Social Work / Community Support environment dealing with diverse clients.
  • Knowledge, understanding, and empathy of the challenges facing Edmonton’s homeless and working poor, including those on a fixed income.
  • Excellent multi-tasking and time management skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing needs, including both internal and external environments.
  • Exceptional active listening skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
  • Excellent keyboarding, data entry, and database management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, communicate at all levels with confidence, and exercise sound judgment, tact, and confidentiality in relation to clients and service agencies.

Human Resources Committee Member

The Human Resources Committee is a standing committee reporting to the Board. Reporting via the Human Resources Committee Chair, the Committee assists the Board, ensuring organizational continuity through human resource governance by:

  • Developing and revising the job description of the Executive Director and/ or other senior staff positions reporting to the Board
  • Managing the compensation and evaluation of the Executive Director
  • Managing the recruitment of Board Members, Executive Members, and Committee Members
  • Development (training) for Board and Committee Members
  • Succession planning for Board Executive Members
  • Reviewing and monitoring all Human Resource policies and procedures

Who Should Apply? Candidates who can demonstrate their interest in:

  • Bringing a diverse knowledge, experience and cultural base
  • Committing time for Human Resource Committee duties and related activities
  • Bringing human resource knowledge and expertise to the Committee table

Governance Committee Member

The Governance Committee is a standing committee reporting to the Board. Reporting via the Governance Committee Chair, the Committee assists the Board to that the board fulfills its legal, ethical and functional responsibilities by:

  • Overseeing compliance with governance principles, culture and ethical values, and legal issues
  • Developing and advising the Board on strategic issues and priorities
  • Overseeing the risk register and recommending risk mitigation strategies
  • Regularly reviewing the performance of the board as a whole and evaluating the contribution of individual members
  • Regularly reviewing the performance of Board standing, ad-hoc, and operational committees
  • Facilitating the development and regular review of the Christmas Bureau Bylaw, governance policies and procedures
