Since 1940, the Christmas Bureau has maintained one tradition - providing a festive meal and coordination of Christmas giving to Edmontonians in need at Christmastime through the promotion of the spirit of Christmas caring and sharing in the City of Edmonton.
Non-denominational and accessible to all Edmontonians in need, we are a connector of over 90 social service agencies providing those in need a one stop application process for Christmas services. Client information is compiled by the Christmas Bureau into a database to provide food gift cards to accommodate all dietary needs. The client list is also used to provide gift cards for teens aged 13 to 17 years through the Christmas Bureau’s Adopt-A-Teen program and by 630 CHED Santas Anonymous Inc. for the delivery of toys to children ages 0 to 12 years.
In 2020, 35,680 individuals were provided a festive meal of which 13,458 were children under the age of 12 and 4,270 were teens aged 13 to 17.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Christmas Bureau for the great job that you are doing to help everyone who is in need. I got some presents for my baby and a gift card to buy some groceries, you don’t know how much that means to me.
I got laid off in March and I was pregnant. I was anxious how I would manage as I didn’t get much chance to save for the baby. I tried to asked for help from other agencies and resources and all they had to say was I made too much last year and that they couldn’t help me. But my situation was not the same this year and Christmas Bureau didn’t judge and I got some help which was grateful and I really appreciated.
Keep doing the great job and happy Christmas to all who participated to make this happen.
