"When I needed help, they were there for my family."

Leslie has volunteered with the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton for many years.

After receiving Christmas services for her family several years ago, she promised to pay it forward and give back to the Christmas Bureau.

What started as an exciting and memorable volunteer opportunity, has blossomed into national recognition at this year’s National Philanthropy Awards, where Leslie received an award for her volunteer work in the social services sector.

Not only does she continue to give back to the community, including volunteering over 100 hours in 11 days (on top of her full-time job) at Taste of Edmonton, but does it with a smile and an amazing sense of humour.

"The Christmas Bureau really is a community of caring people. When I needed help, they were there for my family. Now my family joins me in helping others build their holiday traditions."

Volunteers like Leslie, who make it their mission to support their community ensure that we all have a happy holiday season filled with love and compassion.
