Volunteering for the Christmas Bureau is important to me because they have helped my family over the years. I remember my mother getting help from the Christmas Bureau when I was a youth. Christmas was always a hard time. I never forgot got how much it meant to my mother, to receive a food hamper.
When I grew up into an adult and had a child of my own, I struggled as well as a single parent. It was hard with day to day life, never mind Christmas time. Christmas is hard on any family one way or another. But it really meant so much to have good food for my family at Christmas time.
Not only did the Christmas Bureau help me and my family directly during the holiday season but it has enabled me to give back to my community. It has helped change Christmas to more of a happy time and I truly believe in the Christmas Bureau. I give my time to the organization that has given my family so much. Your acts of kindness today, really do make a lasting impact and I am an example of how one meal can change some one’s future. Volunteering for the Christmas Bureau is part of the makeup of my life and daily routine now. I always look so forward to helping out during the holiday season. I love it when people ask where I volunteer and can let them know about all we do for our people in need here in Edmonton.
