The Great Canadian Giving Challenge is here!

What is The Great Canadian Giving Challenge?

It is a National public contest to benefit any registered Canadian charity.  Every $1 donated to the Christmas Bureau on CanadaHelps.org or givingchallenge.ca, automatically enters us to win a $10,000 donation, provided by The GIV3 Foundation

How can YOU get involved?

Any individual can make a donation via givingchallenge.ca or canadahelps.org. Every $1 donated is an automatic entry for the chosen charity to win a $10,000 donation (minimum $3 donation required). Individuals are also encouraged to share socially to encourage their friends to participate as well.

When does the contest take place?

Challenge begins June 1, 2018 at midnight Newfoundland Daylight Time (NDT) and ends on June 30, 2018 at 11:59:59 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time (PDT).

Draw takes place CANADA DAY, July 1, 2018, and the charity selected as eligible to win will be contacted within approximately 48 hours.

What is the impact?

In 2017, the third annual Great Canadian Giving Challenge, 77,785 Canadians participated, donating almost $10 million to over 10,000 charities, representing an 83% increase in donations compared to June 2014 and a 59% increase compared to 2015. Charities that actively participated in the Great Canadian Giving Challenge in 2017 grew their June donations through CanadaHelps by 46% over 2016.

For the Christmas Bureau, our donations grew from $1,300 in 2016 to just over $8,000 in 2017.

By donating to the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton, you are helping local families, seniors and individuals in need.

What does $10,000 mean to the Christmas Bureau

  • that’s enough money to purchase turkey’s for 312 festive hampers
  • that’s enough money to provide a festive meal to 400 seniors

Your donation is making an impact in your community. Here is a note from someone who received a festive hamper.

“I honestly don’t know what to say other than thank you from the very bottom of my heart. It’s been a very long time since I sat and cried over anything..last time was when my husband passed 8 years ago but today, I had 2 very nice Santa’s come to my door. I have never felt so humbled in my life as when I saw the smiles on those 2 men. They were not only very friendly but showed concern regarding the fresh food.  I can only say thank you from the bottom of my heart and wish you all a very Merry Christmas and the best in the new year.  If my life ever turns around you can believe that my donations to the Edmonton Christmas Bureau will be very generous like your hearts are.  Thank you once again...still crying here.”

Please help us win!
