What’s the Sourdough Raft Race?

The Sourdough Raft Race originated in 1960 between twelve teams from Edmonton Power. The concept was simple: construct a DIY rafter made out of logs and navigate it along the North Saskatchewan River all the way to Devon.

From this small beginning developed the Klondike Days annual World Championship Sourdough Raft Race. The event exploded in size through the 1970’s attracting hundreds of entries every year to the river bank at Whitemud Creek and later Terwillegar Park.

The Sourdough Raft Race Association is making strides by exploring new horizons through diverse events, charity fundraising effortsand renewed interest in sponsorship.

So the question remains - are you ready?
